Conditions Treated

Conditions We Treat

We treat a variety of veterinary related conditions here at Shelbyville Road Veterinary Hospital in Indianapolis. Some conditions we treat include parasites, neutering and spaying, nutritional counseling, puppy and kitten care, senior pet care, dental issues, and dermatology.

How We Treat These Conditions

We treat these conditions in a variety of ways. Preventative care and wellness exams are great ways for us to catch and treat conditions early before they become too serious. It is very important to bring your pet in for their yearly wellness exam so that we can detect if they have any health issues that can be treated.

For ongoing conditions, such as fleas and ticks, a topical solution may be recommended for you to apply on your pet once a month or so. This can prevent infestations and sickness.

Some conditions may need to be further studied and pinpointed. X-rays or ultrasounds may be used to pinpoint problem areas that are hard to determine or see. These methods can also make it easier for us to determine a diagnosis and treatment plan.

Urgent Care and Emergency Pet Care

For more serious conditions, we have urgent care and emergency pet care services available at Shelbyville Road Veterinary Hospital. It can be hard to determine if your pet needs either service since they cannot tell you if they are in pain or if something is wrong.

Certain behaviors can be a sign that something is wrong with your pet. These behaviors include changes in eating and drinking, aggression, and changes in urinating and defecating.

Other situations may call for emergency pet care. These situations are when your animal is hit by a car, they cannot or have a hard time standing, vomiting or diarrhea, and disorientation such as running into walls and objects.

Please contact us immediately if you suspect your pet needs urgent or emergency care. We are here to help you and your pet out.
